Health, nutrition and immunity boosters.

I'm kind of obsessed with everything to do with nutrition and how to naturally boost my body's health through what I eat. I just find it fascinating to know exactly which vitamins and minerals enter my body through certain foods!

If I could go back in time I would have chosen nutrition studies at uni (and not Eng. Lit!) because I would have loved to work in this particular field.

Anyway, I've spent today re-reading my books for some inspiration...

At the moment I am trying my hardest to cut out refined sugar from my diet; it has seriously scared me to read about the side-effects of sugar (cancer, depression, osteoporosis, premature aging and suppressed immune system to name a few...)

Sugar = baaaaaaaaaad!

Fruit and veg = goooooooood!

Anybody else interested in nutrition?

I'm always looking for good health/nutrition books,

so if you can recommend one I will surely check it out ;)

Last day of Christmas...

...that's what it feels like for me at least, as I am back in work tomorrow.

I don't mind that Christmas 2010 is over, to be perfectly honest. I much prefer the time leading up to Christmas. Putting up the decorations, hunting down the perfect present for a dear friend or family member. I love making Christmas cakes, watching Christmas films (Home Alone, Love Actually & The Holiday) and reading Christmas books. Once the 24th is over and done with, I am totally ready for the new year.

So that's what I'm looking forward to at the moment - the new start that we all get on the 01/01/11!

Anyway, here's to the 2010 Christmas! It has been lovely, see you again next year :)

Monday randomness...

As I have managed to get the flu (again!) I spent the day doing the following:

♥ Eating a lot of tangerines (my body is crying out for vitamin C)

♥ Finished reading The Snowman (literally couldn't put this one down. One of Nesbo's best!)

♥ Tried my best to entertain the crazy fur-baby (I tired waaaaaay before him...)

♥ Watched Frida about Frida Kahlo's traumatic life and spellbounding art (extremely fascinating!)


Hmmmm, think I need to get back to work tomorrow...

I have been reminiscing this weekend...

I think I was about 14 when this film first came out, and I desperately wanted to be Alicia Silverstone

(pretty long sleek hair, cute outfits, hot boys, big fluffy pink pen for school...you get the idea. Haha)!

She is amazing in this film though :)

Updated makeup storage using my new MUJI drawers!

I owe you all a HUGE thank you for your tips on my Blogger Help post the other day.

A lot of people told me to go and look at the MUJI website, and sure enough there they were, the storage drawers that I have been hunting for!

I tracked down the shop (in the Trafford Centre, for those of you living near Manchester)

and purchased a set of 4 double drawers (£7.95 each).

I am SO happy with them, but of course I waaaaaaaay underestimated the amount of drawers I need to house all of my makeup, so I need to take another trip to MUJI and buy some more soon :)

Anyway, for now I am using the clear drawers for my everyday/go-to makeup of the moment,
as it is so easy to find and organise.

Now I just need to buy drawers enough to store all of my blushes, which are still kept in the old box...

And the remaining face and eye products that I don't normally use on an everyday basis...

I will probably need another 5-6 double drawers :D

Blush! I struggle finding a bronzer that looks natural on my oh so pale skin

Gloss all the way!

Eyeliner or mascara?

Mascara. I have fair eyelashes, so I look about 10 without mascara. Love my eyeliner too though...

Foundation or concealer?

I don't use foundation, so concealer.

Neutral or color eye shadow?

Oh my god, pressed! Can't stand pigments/loose eye shadows - I always make a mess using them.

Brushes of course, MAC brushes to be more specific. Does anyone use sponges these days?

OPI as it's really hard to get China Glaze here in England.

Short, as my nails go brittle and horrible if they are too long :(

Natural, as I love to paint my nails all the time and change colour about 3-4 times per week.

Hmmmm... Is red bright or dark?

No flower on this occasion.

 

Perfume or body splash?

Perfumes! I am love perfumes! Chanel, Dior, YSL, Chloe...

Lotion or body butter?

Neither. Milk :)

Body wash or soap?

Wash - Body Shops fruity ones.

Lush or other bath company?

Lush for soaps!

Jeans or sweat pants?

Jeans with a cute top - never wrong.

Not really bothered here. I guess long now as it's cold.
