Beauty Product Tag: Youtube Made Me Do It

Some of  my favourite products (even holy grail products), have been discovered through watching makeup gurus on youtube.

When you see rave after rave about a product, you just can't help but get a bit curious...
So, being a makeup addict, I run out and buy. Sometimes I get seriously disappointed (see my Don't Believe The Hype post), other times it can be a product that I have loved from day one.

I don't think my makeup collection would be as big, or as beautiful, if it had not been for the gurus on youtube... So I thank you :)

MAC Lipstick in Angel
I first heard about this from the famous Elle or AllThatGlitters21.

It was her favourite lipstick (this is going back a few years now), and I was so intrigued by her 'kind words' that I got it too. And I am very happy I did. Angel is a beautiful wearable pink. A staple in my collection.

Too Faced Beauty Balm
Again, this was bought based on a video made by Elle and lollipop26.
They both loved this, and now I do too!

It is the kind of product that I would never have discovered if it was not for youtube.

MAC Mineralize Blush
This is Dainty and Love Rock - two absolutely stunning blushes.

Elle did a tutorial (a vampire one if I remember correctly) using Dainty, and I was sold. Through Dainty I discovered the other mineralized blushes, and now I am the happy owner of 7 of them :)

MAC Paint Pots
I never knew that these could be used as eyeshadow bases! I just had one sitting in my makeup drawer rarely being used. Then came along a youtube guru (can't remember which one) and brought new life to my dear Bare Study ♥

Urban Decay Primer Potion
Another product that I probably wouldn't have known about of it wasn't for youtube.

Makes the eyeshadow last all day - perfection.

Ecotools brushes
I first heard about these brushes from michele1218.

She mentioned how soft they were, much softer than MAC brushes, which got me curious. I found these a few months later in Tesco, and she was right.!They are super soft and now my new favourite brushes.

Urban Decay 24/7 liners
A lof of gurus rave about these amazingly soft liners. They are all right, of course :)

Benefit Thrrrob blush and Boiing concealer
Benefit have some great products, and having tried my fair share of them (with both failure and success), I have found some wonderful holy grail makeup that I always keep in my makeup bag.

Both being used in makeup tutorials on youtube, these two caught my attention early on. Thrrrob is a gorgeous pale pink blush & Boiing is a seriously solid concealer.

Soap & Glory
It's not just makeup products that I have discovered on youtube. Soap & Glory has been mentioned a few times too. I eventually decided to check out some of their produts...and fell in love, like so many others.

Lush Bubblebars
Everybody deserves to know the luxury of a lush product. The pampering and soothing effect goes beyong any bath product I have ever tried before.

I think almost all of the makeup gurus on youtube have mentioned Lush at some point. I'm sure they have made Lush a lot of money ;)

What have you discovered through youtube?

Monthly favourites

March

Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Scrub
I first discovered this when I got a little sample of it in a magazine. I used it twice, fell in love, and now I own a big bottle of it :D

This scrub has energising microbeads which exfoliate my skin. It's gentle, but at the same time I can really feel that it is doing my skin some good. It's turns into a lovely soft foam when you rub it into your skin & it also has that cooling sensation, which I am a huge fan of.

Diorshow Iconic
I love this mascara. It has a soft elastomer brush (yes, I looked it up), which coats all of my lashes in a natural and non-clumping fashion. This is not as dramatic as the original Diorshow mascara, so I use this mainly for daytime.

MAC Slimshine Lipstick in Voile
I Back To Mac'd for this product, and boy am I happy I did! This is a gorgeous lipstick and it is super moisturising! It's like a cross between a lipstick and a gloss!! On the lips it looks like a pale golden sparkly colour. Very wearable and fun for a night out :)

Too Faced Beauty Balm in Grapefruit
My trusted lipgloss in a jar, how I adore thee (which I have mentioned many times on here).
This is my everyday gloss/balm. It looks just like the colour in the container when it's on your lips, it moisturises & smells like grapefruit! What more could a girl ask for?!

Barry M Nail Paints in Berry & Strawberry Ice Cream
Ooooo, I luuuuuuuve these!! Perfect pastel colours for spring. Amazing quality, texture & colour.
You've done it again, Barry M!!

Midnight Fantasy Eau De Parfum by Britney Spears
This bottle is to die for & the smell is amazing. My 'go-to' perfume for any night out. I get so many compliments when I wear this! I seriously suggest that you check this out if you haven't already ;)

Just for fun I have added two more non-beauty related products to my list,
which I will have in my 'Monthly Favourites' posts from now on:

Jewellery Of The Month
(simply the jewellery I have been wearing the most)
I have been using this little silver key necklace everyday since I got it a few weeks ago
(£6 from Debenhams). It's on a medium length thin silver chain. So cute!

Film of the month
(A film I have been obsessed with this month, but not necessarily a newly released film...)
I have owned this film for probably 2 years, but this month I kind of re-discovered how much I love it! Definitely on my top 10 favourite films of all time list.
It is romantic, beautiful, inspiring & heartbreaking - ♥♥♥

Hope you enjoyed my monthly favourites!

Leave a comment or question and I will heart you forever :D

The importance of an eyeshadow base

I have 4 different eyeshadow bases that I use pretty much everyday (or whenever I need to apply eyeshadow). They make the shadow last all day (no kidding!), prevents creasing and they also bring out the true colour of the shadows.

I ♥ them!

Urban Decay Primer Potion (£11.50) - I'm sure you all know this, it's kind of famous! This nude, silicone filled potion dries instantly on your lids and helps create the most beautiful finish to your look. I only use a tiny amount on each lid, rub it in well, and voila - I'm ready for any eyeshadow! Makes my MAC shadows last aaaaaaaall day.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance (£13)- This little blue baby is Urban Decay's fiercest competition on the primer market. People either prefer the PP or the Shadow Insurance. It is more liquidy, but gives the same result (in my opinion). I usually just squeeze a bit out on my finger and gently pat it on my lids. It has no colour, is also silicon based and it evens out the skintone on your eye lids - perfect!

Too Faced Lock Down in Bondage (£13) - This creaseless cream eye shadow has been infused with shadow insurance primer and can be used on its own or just as a base. The colour of the one I own is a very light brown with gorgeous metallic glitter. I sometimes use this as a shadow when I'm being lazy, but usually I put a powder shadow over it. It's as good as the Shadow Insurance, which means it's a better deal, as this is really two products in one little cute bottle!

MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study (£13)- A lot of people prefer to use MAC's paint pots as eyeshadow primers (Allthatglitters21 from youtube for instance). Occasionally I will use Bare Study as a primer, but for some reason I struggle to apply this evenly. I use my finger as I only want a light layer (to avoid any creasing), but I always manage to smudge it in places where I don't want it! It is a gorgeous colour though, Bare Study... it's a soft shimmery beige with gold pearl. I prefer it as a colour on it's own actually, it is too pretty to cover up.

In conclusion, I think I prefer the Urban Decay Primer Potion out of the above 4 primers. I seem to reach for that one the most. It's the easiest to apply and gives a 100% flawless result.

What kind of eyeshadow primer do you use?
